The Mae Jacket is named after American engineer, doctor, educator and the first African American woman NASA Astronaut in space, Mae Carol Jemison. I learned about Jemison's life and important work through my children's books. One of the best things about having children is the opportunity to learn through them!

These jackets are tailored and more fitting than our kimono style jackets. They feature a two way zipper and two deep front pockets. They are made from vintage kanthas. Kanthas are quilts traditionally from the Bengali region made from old saris or other discarded cloth with a running stitch. Every piece is unique, made for you to experience maximum comfort. They may contain naturally distressed fabric, holes or patches. It is part of their character and charm.
